Terms of Use

By joining NISC or attending our events, you agree to these terms. We've written them in plain language — no legal jargon. Our goal is a safe, respectful, and productive community for everyone.

Quick Summary: NISC is a free, volunteer-run student tech community. Be respectful, be honest, participate in good faith. Don't spam, harass, or misuse community resources. By joining or attending any NISC event, you agree to these terms.

Acceptance of Terms

By joining NISC, registering for any event, or using any NISC platform (website, WhatsApp groups, Discord server, social media pages), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not join NISC or participate in our events. You may email us at niscnpj@gmail.com if you have questions before joining.

These terms apply to all members, event attendees, volunteers, mentors, and speakers associated with NISC.

About NISC

NISC (Nepalgunj IT Student Community) is a free, non-commercial, volunteer-run student tech community based in Nepalgunj, Banke, Nepal. Founded in 2022, NISC aims to empower IT students and tech enthusiasts across far-western Nepal.

NISC is not a registered company, educational institution, or employment agency. We do not charge membership fees. All events, workshops, and mentorship programs are provided free of charge (unless explicitly stated otherwise for specific materials).

NISC does not guarantee employment, internships, or career outcomes. Any opportunities shared are done in good faith as community resources.

Membership

NISC membership is open to anyone interested in technology, regardless of age, gender, background, or skill level. Membership is completely free.

By becoming a member, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information during signup — do not register with fake names or details
  • Keep your contact information up to date
  • Represent yourself honestly in all community interactions
  • Not create duplicate or multiple accounts
  • Not share your WhatsApp group invite links or Discord links with people outside NISC without permission
Membership is free forever. NISC will never charge you for basic membership. If you are ever asked to pay for NISC membership by someone claiming to represent NISC, please report it to niscnpj@gmail.com immediately.

Community Rules

NISC is built on respect, collaboration, and learning. All members must follow these rules across all NISC platforms (WhatsApp, Discord, Facebook, events, and this website).

🚫 Hate speech, discrimination of any kind
🚫 Sharing adult, violent, or inappropriate content
🚫 Spam, unsolicited promotions, or scams
🚫 Sharing pirated software, illegal content
🚫 Impersonating NISC or other members

Additional rules for our online platforms:

  • WhatsApp groups: Keep messages relevant. Avoid flooding the group. Do not add people to the group without NISC admin permission.
  • Discord server: Use the correct channels. Follow channel-specific rules. Respect all members regardless of skill level.
  • Social media: Do not tag NISC in inappropriate content. Do not post misinformation about NISC.
Violations of community rules may result in a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from NISC, at the discretion of the NISC core team. Serious violations (harassment, threats, illegal activity) may be reported to relevant authorities.

Events & Workshops

By registering for a NISC event, you agree to the following:

  • Accurate registration: Register only for yourself with your real name and contact details
  • Attendance commitment: If you register and cannot attend, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your seat to someone else
  • Conduct at events: All community rules apply at physical and online events. Disruptive behavior will result in removal from the event
  • Photography & recording: NISC may photograph or record events for community documentation. By attending, you consent to potentially appearing in such content. Notify us before the event if you have concerns.
  • Materials: Workshop materials shared by speakers are for personal learning only — do not redistribute without the speaker's permission
Cancellations: NISC reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or change the format of any event due to unforeseen circumstances. We will notify registered attendees as soon as possible via email or WhatsApp.

For paid events (if any, clearly marked with the fee): Fees cover material costs only. Refund policies will be stated clearly at the time of registration for any paid event.

Content & Intellectual Property

NISC content: All original content created by NISC — including our website design, event materials, graphics, and community resources — is the property of NISC. You may share NISC content for non-commercial, educational purposes with attribution.

Member content: When you share content in NISC communities (projects, code, posts), you retain ownership of that content. By sharing, you grant NISC a non-exclusive right to feature it in community showcases, social media, or promotional materials (we will always credit you).

Speaker content: Workshop slides, code, and materials shared by speakers remain the intellectual property of the respective speakers unless otherwise stated.

Third-party content: Do not share copyrighted content, pirated software, or unlicensed materials in any NISC platform.

Communications

By joining NISC, you consent to receive communications from us via:

  • Email — event announcements, confirmations, newsletters, community updates
  • WhatsApp — community group messages (if you joined a WhatsApp group)
  • Discord — server announcements and channel messages (if you joined our Discord)

You can opt out of email communications at any time by replying with "Unsubscribe" or emailing niscnpj@gmail.com. You can leave WhatsApp or Discord groups at any time.

NISC will never send you spam, promotional advertisements from third parties, or unsolicited commercial content.

Disclaimers & Limitations

Please understand the following about NISC:

  • No guarantees: NISC does not guarantee any specific outcomes from membership, including employment, skill development, or career advancement
  • Volunteer-run: NISC is run by volunteers. We do our best but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of services, platforms, or events
  • Third-party platforms: We use third-party platforms (WhatsApp, Discord, Google) that have their own terms. We are not responsible for issues arising from those platforms
  • External opportunities: Job listings, internship opportunities, and resources shared by NISC are shared in good faith but have not been verified. Exercise your own judgment.
  • No liability: NISC and its volunteers are not liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from your participation in NISC activities, to the extent permitted by applicable Nepali law
Safety at events: NISC takes reasonable precautions for event safety but is not liable for accidents, loss of personal property, or personal injuries during events. Attend in-person events at your own risk.

Termination of Membership

You may leave NISC at any time by emailing niscnpj@gmail.com requesting removal. We will delete your data within 7 business days.

NISC may remove members who violate these terms. Grounds for removal include:

  • Repeated or serious violations of community rules
  • Harassment or threats directed at any member, speaker, or volunteer
  • Fraudulent or misleading registration information
  • Using NISC platforms for commercial gain without permission
  • Any illegal activity

In most cases, we will issue a warning before removing a member. For serious violations (harassment, threats, illegal activity), removal may be immediate without prior notice.

Removal decisions are made by the NISC core team. If you believe you were removed unfairly, you may appeal by emailing niscnpj@gmail.com.

Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Nepal. Any disputes arising from these terms or your participation in NISC shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Banke District, Nepal.

We strongly prefer to resolve any disputes through direct communication. Please contact us at niscnpj@gmail.com before pursuing any formal legal action.

Changes to These Terms

NISC may update these Terms of Use periodically to reflect changes in our community, services, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes:

  • The "Last Updated" date on this page will be revised
  • We will announce major changes via our WhatsApp community group and email newsletter at least 7 days before they take effect
  • Continued participation in NISC after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms

We encourage all members to review these terms periodically. Previous versions are available upon request by emailing niscnpj@gmail.com.
